Please list up to 5 people who are also applying and with whom you would like to work. List in order of preference. We will make an effort to honor these preferences.

Placement

The following volunteer opportunities are available for Summer 2009 volunteers. Please read the detailed description of each (use the links provided). Then, on a scale of 0 to 4, please indicate how willing you are to participate in that activity.

Please note that while No More Deaths will make every effort to consider your preferences, we must place volunteers where they will be most effective.
All summer volunteers, including weekend volunteers, are required to attend both parts of a weekly training session prior to working in the field. Part 1 is conducted every Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church (401 E. 4th St. in Tucson), and part 2 is every Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm at the same location.
Weekend volunteers are asked to commit to work two or more full weekends after getting trained. Work weekends are considered to begin Friday at 7 pm and end Sunday at 7 pm.

Finally, we expect all volunteers to attend a "debriefing session" at the end of their work commitment (or earlier, if needed) to help them process the experience. Debriefing is Saturdays 9 am–11 am. Please tentatively indicate the session you will attend. You can change this later, but it will help us plan, as well as keep you posted on scheduling/location changes.

Health, Allergy and Diet

We want you to be aware that in both desert and border work, you will be exposed to intense sunlight and very high temperatures (over 100º F) while doing physical labor.

Emergency Contact Information

Please supply the name and contact information for someone we can reach in case of emergency.
Reference: Please supply the name and contact information of someone who can speak to your ability to work with others and cope with stressful and/or challenging situations (e.g., a teacher, supervisor or co-worker). Please do not choose a family member or another NMD applicant.
A total donation of $40 is requested from all weekend volunteers to help subsidize operating costs. Applicants for whom the requested donation poses a financial hardship are encouraged to submit a scholarship application with their application.
Please select "Preview" to review the information you have provided for accuracy and completeness. If any required information is missing, you will see this page again, with the required fields highlighted in red. Your application is not complete until you click "Submit Application" on the next page.
