Araceli's supporters in LA
Over the past week we have built an incredible national campaign in support of 20-year Tucson resident Araceli Torres. Public events have been organized by No More Deaths volunteers and allies in - Oakland, California - Los Angeles, California - Pomona, California - Brooklyn, New York and college campuses in Washington, North Carolina, and Illinois.
Supporters from around the country have made over 1,000 phone calls to DHS Secretary Napolitano, DHS Assistant Secretary Morton, and the Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations for AZ, Katrina Kane. We have sent over 3,300 letters via fax urging them to grant Araceli deferred action. And over 500 have signed the online petition. Still DHS has not responded! WHAT YOU CAN DO: CALL DHS OFFICIALS AND ASK FOR COMMENT regarding their position on deferred action in light of the public’s overwhelming support for Aracel. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano: 202-282-8495; Assistant Secretary John Morton: 202-732-3000 Katrina Kane, Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations for AZ: 602-766-7028
